If you wish to type in Cyrillic you will need to switch the language for your keyboard (assuming that you already enabled Multilingual Support on your computer).
Windows 98: Go to the
Start Menu and choose
Settings ->
Control Panel. In Control Panel click on the icon for
Keyboard and select the option
Language. Click
Add and select Russian from the scrollable list. Click on OK. You can also select or change which key combination you will use to switch between languages. Check the box Enable Indication on Taskbar. It shows up at the bottom righthand corner of your screen - It's useful to know which language is now on. Click
Apply and
OK. You can now type in Russian!
Windows XP: Go to
Start -> Control Panel and select the section for
Date, Time, Regional and Language Options. Select
Add other languages and on the panel
Languages (under the heading
Text services and Input Languages) choose the option
Key Settings and select what keys should be used to switch between the languages.
Now the only problem you have is the keyboard itself! Unfortunately, it doesn't show you which Russian letter is where. You can buy special stickers with the Russian keys on them, or you could make your own template to lay over the keyboard, using one of those semi-transparent keyboard guards that protect keyboards from coffee spills, or just write Russian letters on with a marker pen
